What to verify before procuring modular water and power systems

Modular equipment can reduce site work, but transportability does not prove operability. Procurement documents must connect source water or electrical loads with environment, interfaces, consumables, spares and local operating capacity.

Water: work from the source to the point of use

  • Source, seasonal variation and available test results
  • Target quality and applicable local standards or authority requirements
  • Average and peak flow, storage and disinfection boundary
  • Power, chemicals, filters, reject water and waste handling
  • Operating, cleaning, testing and replenishment capacity
02

Power: work from the load list to protection

  • Critical loads, peak demand and motor starting currents
  • Voltage, frequency, earthing, fault protection and distribution interfaces
  • Grid condition and availability of fuel or renewable resources
  • Required autonomy, redundancy and load priorities
  • Maintenance conditions for batteries, inverters, generators and wear parts
03

Put interface conditions into the enquiry

Container dimensions, lifting points, transport limits, foundations, water connections, cabling, communications, fire protection, noise and climate can all change the configuration. Mark confirmed data, supplier clarification points and parameters that must not be assumed.

04

Acceptance is more than “it powers on”

  • Document and serial-number check
  • Factory testing and critical parameter verification
  • Packing and transport-condition inspection
  • Installation, commissioning and training records
  • Handover of consumables, spares and the maintenance plan

Selection must be based on site inputs and local statutory requirements. This note does not replace water, electrical or fire-safety review.
